Ireland - Uncertainty about transposition of pay transparency directive - April 30, 2026

There is ongoing uncertainty regarding implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive, two months before the deadline. The Department of Equality, which is responsible for the transposition into national law, has confirmed the process won’t be ready by the June 7 deadline and that implementation will be on a phased basis. Three years after the timeline for introducing the directive was set out, employers say they are still in the dark about what they are required to do and when it should be done by.
