Hungary - Union sends protest letter to the Government - March 31, 2026
Public sector union MKKSZ addressed a formal letter to the Prime Minister outlining key demands in ongoing collective negotiations affecting civil servants. The union called for immediate talks on planned 2026 wage increases for Government officials and municipal employees, stressing that previous pay adjustments had failed to keep pace with inflation. It also proposed raising the cafeteria benefit ceiling to HUF 400,000 (€ 1,041) and urged consultation on how minimum wage increases affect public sector pay scales. MKKSZ emphasised the need for structured dialogue and transparent bargaining mechanisms to ensure fair compensation across the sector.
