Hungary - Tripartite talks about 2027 minimum wage start - August 31, 2026

A series of negotiations launched between the Government, trade unions and employers may put the labour dialogue on a new footing. The focus of the autumn negotiations is the 2027 minimum wage, the double-digit net increase of which may be made realistic by the cabinet's planned reduction of personal income tax. Following the first meeting in early August, the new Government promised to involve interest groups in the decision-making preparation phase, breaking with the previous practice of providing information afterwards. There is also an openness to renewing the Permanent Consultation Forum (VKF) of the Competition Sector and the Government, and official bilateral negotiations will begin in September.
