Hungary - Teachers’ unions wants to negotiate with Government - May 31, 2026

The Teachers' Union (PSZ) expects the earliest possible start of professional negotiations with Government members responsible for education and related areas - the members of the organization stated in the closing statement of their 44th congress. The PSZ welcomed the establishment of an independent Ministry of Education and Children's Affairs, which is responsible for all areas from kindergarten to university. This is the same as the union's previous 50-point proposal package. Among other things, they urge the establishment of institutions for sectoral social dialogue, a wage increase for those directly involved in education and training, a reduction in the administrative burden on teachers and trainers, and the liberalization of textbook ordering.
