Hungary - Pay increase by up to 13% for railway staff - January 31, 2026
Employees of railway company MÁV will see their incomes increase by up to 13% in 2026, after the company, trade unions, and the state agreed on additional increases to the initial wage agreement. According to the decision announced on 19 January, in the last year of the three-year wage agreement, base salaries will increase in two stages. In January and February 2026, the initially planned increase of 4.7% will apply, followed by a further increase of 4.7% in March. As a result, the base salary of MÁV employees will be 9.6% higher than the current level.
