Hungary - 40% pay cut for Parliamentarians - June 30, 2026

The Parliament has unanimously approved a substantial reduction in the salaries of the Prime Minister, ministers and parliamentary office-holders. The measure is expected to save the state budget billions of forints, fulfilling a key pledge made by the Prime Minister following his election in April. All 189 lawmakers present in the 199-member National Assembly voted in favour of the bill. The bill will bring MP’s base salaries down to € 3,690 per month.
