Greece - Ten sectoral deals, only two extended since national agreement - September 30, 2026
Seven months after the law on the National Social Agreement to strengthen collective agreements came into force in February 2026, Labour Ministry figures show that ten sectoral collective agreements have been signed. Only two of them have been extended to cover the whole sector. The agreement was signed by the union confederation GSEE and employers' organisations in November 2025 and was presented as a historic step to restore collective bargaining after the crisis years. Under the law, agreements can be extended more easily: coverage of 40% of workers in a sector is now enough, down from 50%, and the threshold does not apply if the GSEE (co-)signs together with the representative employers' organisations.
