Greece - Pay transparency bill tabled in Parliament - June 30, 2026
The Government has tabled in Parliament new draft legislation intended to ensure gender equality in pay as well as transparency in employers’ hiring and salary policies. The Labour Minister said the proposed law was meant to eradicate gender as a factor shaping wage policy for people doing the same or similar work. Women are currently paid on average 13.4% less than their male colleagues per hour of work. The bill also compels employers to publish information on the salary – or the salary range – they are offering when hiring new workers and forbids them to ask candidates how much they made in their previous job. Vacancy adverts must also be gender-neutral.
