Greece - Food service and hotel workers prepare strike - June 30, 2026

Workers in food service and hotel sectors are planning to stage a 24-hour nationwide strike, as unions demand higher pay, stronger labour protections and stricter enforcement of employment laws. The strike on 24 June was called by the Federation of Catering and Tourism Workers (POEET), which said walkouts and protest rallies will be held across the country through local unions. Announcing the action, the federation cited what it described as exhausting working hours, abuses of the 13-hour workday, violations of the Digital Work Card system for clocking in hours and widespread breaches of sectoral collective agreements.
