Germany - Warning strikes in retail sector - June 30, 2026

On 25 June, thousands of employees at Kaufland supermarket stores went on strike. The ver.di union has called for nationwide warning strikes. Employees from more than one hundred Kaufland stores are addressing their demands directly to the employer. They are demanding a 7% wage increase per month, but at least € 225 more. The collective agreement is to have a term of 12 months. Earlier in June, there were warning strikes in the retail sector in various parts of the country.
