Germany - Implementation of pay transparency delayed - June 30, 2026

The Government missed the deadline of 7 June for the implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ) in response to an inquiry. The ministry stated that while all preparations have been made to initiate the legislative process, “further coordination is still necessary, so we will not be able to meet the implementation deadline of the beginning of June.” Against the backdrop of the current economic situation, the plan is to postpone the timetable for the legal implementation “moderately”." Entry into force is planned for early 2027, according to the ministry.
