Germany - Agreement with health insurance company in the railway sector - March 31, 2026

The EVG (Railway and Transport Union) and BAHN-BKK (a health insurance company) reached a collective agreement after three intensive rounds of negotiations. The negotiations took place under challenging circumstances, as statutory health insurance companies are currently under pressure due to health policy discussions and potential structural changes. Monthly base salaries will be increased in two stages by a total of 5.5%. Employees will initially receive a 3% salary increase on 1 May 2026, followed by a further 2.5% increase on 1 February 2027. Trainees will benefit doubly from the new collective agreement. Their compensation will increase by € 100.
