France - New collective agreement on AI and the green transition - August 31, 2026

A new collective agreement at the energy group Schneider creates new tools to anticipate how the twin transition will reshape jobs, skills, and working conditions. While the European Commission is pursuing an agenda of deregulation through the omnibus fleet, social partners at Schneider shoulder their responsibility and show the twin transition can be tackled fairly at the bargaining table. Negotiated in under two months and running until 2028, the agreement sets up dedicated committees on both AI and the green transition. Their role is to assess the impact of the twin transitions on employment, and ensure workers are trained and informed. The agreement has a forward-looking approach, particularly the strong emphasis on skills development and training.
