France - Minimum wage rises 2.4% - May 31, 2026
The minimum wage, known as the SMIC, will rise by 2.4% on 1 June 2026, the Labour Minister has confirmed. The increase will add around € 44 gross, or € 34 net, per month for full-time employees working a 35-hour contract. The adjustment follows a 2.2% year-on-year rise in consumer prices, which automatically triggered the increase under law. It marks the second SMIC rise of 2026 after an earlier increase in January, and helps maintain the country’s position among the countries with the highest minimum wages in the European Union.
