France - Education unions mobilise against job cuts and pay stagnation - March 31, 2026

The national education unions FSU, Unsa, CFDT, CGT, and SUD are calling for a week of mobilization from 30 March to 3 April, with a general strike on 31 March. They are protesting against job cuts and the lack of salary increases in an already tense situation in schools and other educational institutions. In a joint statement the unions denounce the Government's budgetary choices. They point to job cuts and a wage freeze, which, according to them, "can only further degrade an already depleted public education system."
