Finland - Health and social workers protest - April 30, 2026

On 21 April, health and social care workers gathered in Helsinki to protest against planned Government cuts to social welfare services. The demonstration, attended by the health and social care union SuPer alongside other organisations, took place outside the House of Estates during Government spending limit negotiations. Workers are protesting proposed additional cuts of € 100 million to social welfare, alongside a draft reform of the Social Welfare Act. SuPer highlights that services such as home care and assisted living for elderly and disabled people cannot sustain further financial reductions.
