EU Sources - Unions and businesses join forces to stop ‘race to the bottom’ - April 30, 2026

As the European Commission prepares to reform the rules governing over € 2 trillion in annual public procurement in June, a coalition of unions, businesses and lawmakers held the first-ever Procurement Summit to discuss how Europe should use its enormous spending power to deliver quality goods and services and create decent work. Trade union leaders detailed how the current procurement rules slash social standards, while business representatives and CEOs set out how it undermines fair competition.
