EU Sources - Uber drivers lose up to 45% of fares - September 30, 2026
On 24 September, the ETUC and Worker Info Exchange published the first Europe-wide study of Uber's dynamic pay system, covering ten countries. They found that wherever dynamic pay has been introduced, average driver pay per trip has fallen while Uber's commission has risen. Commission rates fluctuate from trip to trip, with rates of up to 45% observed. The authors describe this as "pay cuts by stealth": drivers cannot see that their average pay has fallen because the commission is hidden by unpredictability. In many countries, drivers can no longer see what the passenger paid.
