EU Sources - Report on Minimum Wage Directive - August 31, 2026

The European Commission published its first monitoring report analysing the data and information EU member states are required to transmit under the Adequate Minimum Wages Directive, covering both minimum wage protection measures and national action plans to promote collective bargaining where coverage falls below the 80% threshold set by the directive. The report assesses how far countries have progressed on wage-setting adequacy criteria and on strengthening collective bargaining since the directive's 2022 adoption. It forms part of the Commission's ongoing enforcement and monitoring cycle for the directive, ahead of possible further compliance steps for member states found lagging on either wage adequacy or bargaining-coverage commitments.
