EU Sources - EU rule-making overhaul risks sidelining workers’ voices - April 30, 2026
The European Commission’s new vision for EU law-making, set out in its Communication “A simpler, clearer and better enforced EU rulebook”, risks further marginalising workers’ voices and weakening democratic scrutiny in EU policy-making, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) has warned. While the Commission presents its plan as a step towards simpler and more transparent rule-making, the ETUC points to growing evidence that recent practices have moved in the opposite direction with rushed procedures, selective consultations and reduced transparency already raising serious concerns.
