Denmark - Dairy farm dispute complicates union tax-deduction reform - August 31, 2026

A labour dispute between blue-collar union 3F and Jutland dairy farm Davidsen Landbrug, which is covered by an agreement between the "yellow" union Krifa and employer group KA, is becoming one of the defining test cases for the country’s collective bargaining model. The conflict lands at an awkward moment for the Government, which has pledged in its coalition agreement to convene an expert group to examine targeting the tax deduction for union membership fees solely at unions that negotiate collective agreements (overenskomstbærende unions). The dispute could hand ammunition to the yellow unions opposing the reform, since it highlights the contested legal status of agreements outside the mainstream union movement.
