Czechia - Union rejects proposal for new railway agreement - August 31, 2026

Czech Railways (České dráhy) presented its unions with a proposal for a new company collective agreement covering 2027–2028. The employer's plan includes a new pay system, scrapping the current 36-hour working week in favour of longer hours, cutting severance entitlements and tightening the conditions for receiving them, and limiting certain employee benefits. The Railway Workers' Trade Union Association (OSŽ) said it would defend employees' legitimate interests and work to preserve fair pay and working conditions as negotiations proceed, and pledged to keep members informed as talks continue.
