Czechia - Strike alert at Government office - June 30, 2026

Straka trade union at the Government Office would remain on strike alert. The dispute concerns the planned transfer of important agendas, including addictions policy, human rights, gender equality and civil-service matters, from the Government Office to individual ministries. The union argued that the changes had not been properly discussed with employees or their representatives and could weaken professional expertise, continuity and working conditions in public service. The alert followed a strike by Government Office employees on 5 June. Union confederation ČMKOS supported the demand for transparent consultation before irreversible organisational decisions were made.
