Czechia - Agreement on minimum wage increase - August 31, 2026

On 24 August, representatives of the Government, trade unions and employers met for an extraordinary plenary session of the tripartite council. The main topic of the meeting was the increase in the minimum wage from 1 January 2027 and the setting of the coefficient for its further growth in 2028. In 2024, the social partners agreed on a gradual minimum wage increase to the level of 47% of the average gross wage, which should be achieved in 2029. The Government’s proposal for the following period corresponds to this goal. In 2027, the minimum wage should increase by 11.2% from the current 22,400 CZK (€ 925) to 24,900 CZK (€ 1,029), equivalent to 44.6% of the average wage, with a further increase to 45.8% planned for 2028. Union confederation ČMKOS said it wants the minimum wage to keep rising after 2029, toward the 50% level recommended by the European Commission.
