Cyprus - Minimum wage bill and collective bargaining plan to be sent to Parliament - September 30, 2026
A bill to bring the country into line with the EU Directive on Adequate Minimum Wages will be sent to Parliament by the end of the year, the Labour Minister said on 6 September in answer to parliamentary questions. He said harmonisation had been delayed partly by Denmark's challenge to the directive before the EU Court of Justice. A bill transposing the Directive on Equal Pay and Pay Transparency was expected to go to the Council of Ministers in September; under the draft, employers must first report gender pay gap data by 6 June 2027. The minister said about 40% of employees are covered by collective agreements, and that the country has no sectoral agreements binding for all employers in a sector. An action plan with the social partners to increase bargaining coverage is due by November 2026.
