Cyprus - Improved Government offer to hourly-paid workers - September 30, 2026

An improved Government proposal to settle the dispute with hourly-paid public sector workers will be put to employees for a decision, the unions said on 28 September after meeting the president. The Finance Minister said the offer presented was better than the one discussed at the previous meeting and expressed hope that an agreement could now be reached. He would not disclose its contents or say whether it includes pay rises. The union representatives, from SEK, PEO and Deok, confirmed the offer was an improvement on earlier proposals and said the final decision rests with the workers. Deok described the offer as clearly improved. The unions had earlier sought general wage increases of 8% over three years.
