Cyprus - Draft law on minimum wage reform - February 28, 2026
The country moved a step closer to the long-delayed adoption of the EU Directive on Adequate Minimum Wages, as the updated draft Adequate Minimum Wages Law was presented to the social partners, with key disagreements between employers and unions still unresolved. The revised bill was discussed before representatives of employers and trade unions, following earlier meetings in January, when strong reservations were first voiced by employer organisations. Central to the reform is the creation of a Minimum Wage Adjustment Committee, appointed by the Cabinet. The committee will be comprised by three representatives of workers, three representatives of employers, and three independent experts in labour matters.
