Croatia - Public service unions demand urgent talks on 2027 pay - September 30, 2026
Eleven public service unions have asked the Government's negotiating team to urgently convene talks on the basic collective agreement (TKU), covering the 2027 salary base, a meal allowance and indexing the base to inflation. They expect a first meeting in early October. The Croatian Doctors' Union said the minimum demand is that the hourly wage must not fall because of inflation, and that no agreement below that is possible. The Independent Union of Science and Higher Education pointed out that there has been no agreement between the Government and the public service unions for two years, and no sectoral bargaining for four. He warned that anything other than serious social dialogue can only lead to escalation.
