Bulgaria - Union warns for protest over higher wages - January 31, 2026
The president of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) warned that failing to adopt a new state budget for 2026 would almost certainly trigger nationwide protests and strikes. Rising living costs are not matched by wage growth, and unions are preparing demonstrations if income adjustments tied to inflation are not applied. The absence of a new budget deprives workers of predictable wage progress and risks serious industrial conflict.
