Austria - Employees reject offer in hotel industry - June 30, 2026

A grassroots democratic vote in the hotel and restaurant industry failed to produce a clear "yes" to the employers’ offer. This makes it clear that the vida union will not agree to the proposal in its current form. For vida, the result is a clear signal: employees expect a collective agreement that secures their purchasing power and takes rising living costs into account. vida is particularly critical of the employers' position concerning the shortage of skilled workers. While the industry regularly refers to a lack of staff, it is at the same time not prepared to raise incomes accordingly.
