Austria - Collective agreement in chemical industry - June 30, 2026
In the eighth round of talks, after 14 hours of negotiations, the GPA and PRO-GE unions reached a collective agreement with employers for the approximately 50,000 employees in the chemical industry. Actual wages and salaries will increase by 1.8%, with a maximum increase of € 100. In addition, there will be a one-off payment of € 300 or an extra day off. Wages and salaries will be increased by 2%, and apprentices will also receive a 2% increase. For six rounds, the employers insisted on a de facto wage freeze; only through works council meetings, warning strikes, and temporary strikes did the negotiations gain momentum.
