Austria - Collective agreement for the paper industry - May 31, 2026

The PRO-GE and GPA unions reached an agreement on 21 May in the negotiations for the approximately 7,500 employees in the paper industry. The collectively agreed minimum wages will be increased retroactively by 2.4% as of 1 May, as will apprentice wages. Actual wages will be raised by 1.8% plus € 28, resulting in sustainable wage increases of 2.65% on average for blue-collar workers and up to 2.75% for the lowest-paid employees. The negotiations lasted a total of six weeks and involved six rounds of talks. The agreement will be effective as of 1 May 2026, and has a term of 12 months.
