Austria - Autumn wage round opens - September 30, 2026

The autumn bargaining round is getting under way, and this year the metal sector is not leading it. Thanks to their two-year agreement, the metalworkers are not at the table, so retail is the largest group negotiating. GPA union represents around 420,000 retail employees, a workforce with a high share of women and part-timers. For the IT collective agreement, which covers about 90,000 employees, the first round will be on 19 October. Railway workers, represented by union vida, and brewery workers, represented by PRO-GE, will also negotiate this autumn.
