Austria - Agreement for hotels and restaurants - August 31, 2026

After four failed rounds of negotiations, a unilateral termination by the Chamber of Commerce, and numerous protests, the new collective agreement for approximately 250,000 employees in the hotel and restaurant industry has been finalized. From 1 October 2026, wages will increase by an average of 3.02%. Apprentices will receive an average increase of 3.44%, while those in wage bracket 5 – the largest and lowest-paid employee group in the sector – will see an increase of 3.48%. In addition, a fixed bonus of € 275 was agreed upon for the majority of employees. Employers also have the option of paying out a voluntary tax-free bonus of up to a total of € 500.
