Real wage growth during the first quarter was the slowest since the end of 2023. 16 out of 19 economic sectors still maintained a more dynamic wage growth than inflation. The average nominal monthly wage of an employee in the first quarter of 2025 reached € 1,518, representing a year-on-year increase by 4.9%. Compared to the corresponding period last year, employees improved their gross wages by € 71, on average. The rate of wage growth accelerated slightly compared to the previous quarter, but the rising inflation at the beginning of the year slowed down real wage growth to only 1%.
