Poland - Strike threat at retail chain - December 31, 2025
Unions in the Stokrotka retail chain, including Solidarność, launched a strike referendum. Union representatives demanded higher staffing levels in stores and an 800 zloty (€ 190) pay increase, arguing that workload and low wages were pushing conditions beyond acceptable limits. The most important demand is to increase the number of employees by at least two full-time positions in each store. According to union members, in some stores, seven people, including management, are sufficient to staff two shifts. The company responded that it carries out annual pay rises based on market conditions and financial results.
