Lithuania - Agreement for teachers - November 30, 2025
Unions representing educational sector employees reported a breakthrough in their negotiations with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. They reached an agreement that from 1 January 2026 teachers’ salaries will increase by 7.65%, and the collective agreement for 2027-28 laid out further increments of around 6%. The union leadership admitted the agreement “does not satisfy fully,” but highlighted that it prevented a rollback of existing collectively-agreed conditions. The development comes after protest action in late November and may set a benchmark for other public-sector bargaining rounds.
