Around 14,000 employees will receive a 1.75% pay increase starting 1 April 2026. Particularly welcome is the disproportionate increase in apprentice wages of € 75 per month. In addition, the collective agreement on temporary work contracts was extended. The new agreement will run until 31 March 2027. The Steel Industry Collective Bargaining Commission in Saarland, consisting of works council members and IG Metall shop stewards, deliberately decided against a percentage-based demand. The goal was a comprehensive package that secures both employment and wages in the long term.

Read on: in German…

For more information, please contact Paul de Beer or Oana Ciuca, De Burcht (Scientific Bureau for the Dutch Trade Union Movement) p.t.debeer@uva.nl or the Head of communications at the ETUI, Mehmet Koksal mkoksal@etui.org.
