France - A wave of public service mobilisations - November 30, 2025
Trade unions have issued several calls for action across public services in November and December, reflecting growing concern over the impact of austerity, pay restraint and staffing pressures. The CGT, FSU and Solidaires unions have jointly called a national mobilisation for 2 December. Their action covers a broad range of public services, including education, public administration and social services, and aims to highlight the consequences of reduced public investment on service quality and working conditions. Alongside this national day of action, the CGT Federation of Public Services has filed a strike notice from 20 to 25 November. The federation reports increased strain on municipal and territorial services and is calling for improved pay, stronger recruitment and an end to budget reductions affecting local public services. Force Ouvrière also held a three-day mobilisation in the public sector on 17, 18 and 19 November.
