EU Sources - Coalition demands linking public funding with social and environmental conditionalities - December 31, 2025
A coalition of societal organizations, including ETUC, EPSU and IndustriAll, demand that the European Parliament and the Member States link public funding with social and environmental conditionalities in the next EU-budget also called Multi-Annual Financial Framework of the EU. The group wants that public support for companies should advance both short- and long-term goals for Europe’s economy. Aid must favour the best-in-class companies — those committed to carbon neutrality, resource efficiency and respect for social and labour standards including collective bargaining. Without those social and environmental conditionalities, subsidies risk propping up vested interests and rent seekers.
