The walkout was announced after an emergency meeting of the board of the Pancyprian association of community nursery school teachers, held in cooperation with trade unions PASEY PEO and OYYK SEK. In a joint statement, the unions said the strike is a necessary response to what they described as the education ministry’s persistent indifference. Since September 2023, they have submitted detailed proposals and requests for dialogue, but there has been no official response or sign of progress.
