Bulgaria - Protest against draft budget - November 30, 2025

Thousands of protesters gathered in central Sofia to oppose the draft 2026 national budget, which includes higher taxes and increased social‑security contributions. Unions formed part of a broad coalition of social actors expressing concerns over the impact on workers and small businesses. Demonstrators created a symbolic human chain around parliament, demanding more equitable fiscal policies and protection for vulnerable groups. The protest highlighted rising public dissatisfaction with economic policy ahead of further budget negotiations.
