Since their companies are under strong economic pressure, the collectively agreed increase for them was 0.75% or 1.5% lower than the agreed 4.8% increase in wages. Those affected will receive more free time or one-off payments as compensation. The basis for the collective agreement reduction is a formula that calculates personnel costs in relation to value added. A total of around 200,000 employees work in the metal industry. A two-year contract was negotiated for them in 2023.
