The strongest real term increases took place in education, manufacturing, financial and insurance activities. The average nominal monthly wage of an employee in the second quarter of 2024 increased year-on-year by 7.1% to € 1,520. This means that in gross terms employees received on average € 101 more than in the same period of the previous year. Compared to the previous quarter, growth slowed down for the second time in a row. Nonetheless, the still relatively significant increase in nominal wages, together with falling inflation, meant that real wages grew for the third consecutive quarter. After adjusting the inflation rate, real wages rose by 4.9% in the second quarter of 2024.
