After missing a first deadline of 15 September, Liberty Steel was told to pay the wages by 19 September, a deadline it was able to meet, unions confirmed. Operations at Liberty Steel have been at a standstill since May 2023, when workplace inspectors determined the facilities endangered the safety and health of the company’s staff. Despite halting operations, the firm continues to pay its staff.
