Germany - Call for strike in public transport - February 29, 2024

The trade union ver.di has called on local transport workers to go on strike from 26 February to 2 March. In individual federal states, strikes took place on different days during this period - primarily all day and mostly over several days. The strikes took place in the context of the ongoing negotiations for the approximately 90,000 employees in municipal public transport in over 130 municipal companies. The negotiations are mainly about improving working conditions and relieving the burden on employees, for example by shortening weekly working hours, increasing vacation entitlement, additional recuperation days for shift and night work, and limiting shared services and unpaid times in driving service.
