This decision follows a series of unmet demands and unfulfilled commitments from Government officials. Earlier this year trade unions including those representing state institutions, healthcare workers, educators, and cultural professionals, sought substantial salary adjustments. Initially, the unions requested a 15% increase in salary rates to take effect from September 1, 2024. This demand was later moderated to a 10% increase in an attempt to reach a compromise.
