According to the International Labour Organization, the subsistence wage is the wage level required to ensure a decent standard of living for workers and their families. The trade union proposes that calculations be made using a special consumer basket of 479 goods and services, excluding alcohol and cigarettes. According to the latest data, the subsistence gross wage is 1,874 BGN (€ 958) per month.
