This is one of the jey results of the half-yearly collective bargaining analysis done by the Collective Agreement Archive of the Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI) of the Hans Böckler Foundation. Given the continued very high price increases in the first half of 2023, this results in an average decline of real wages of 1.7%. However, the effect of the tax-free one-off inflation compensation premiums cannot be fully taken into account in this calculation because this varies depending on the individual tax rate. For some employees, the real wage loss is therefore likely to be significantly smaller.
