A new report from LO on subsidized employment states that there is much to be done to have a more effective and accurate labour market policy. Subsidized jobs have an important role to play in fighting unemployment. But the terms of employment have to be improved, according to LO. The average salary for subsidized employees is around SEK 20,000 (€ 1,930) per month. Despite the fact that demands are made on wages in accordance with collective agreements, individual wages often end up well below the level of the collective agreement. LO proposes that the salary ceiling of SEK 20,000 per month for subsidized employment should be raised significantly.

Read on: in Swedish.

For more information, please contact Paul de Beer or Oana Ciuca, De Burcht (Scientific Bureau for the Dutch Trade Union Movement) p.t.debeer@uva.nl or the Head of communications at the ETUI, Mehmet Koksal mkoksal@etui.org.
